To obtain a good mark for CPA follow below steps
1.Read the notes at least three times. First time read everything. Second time read the key concepts. Third time skim through the notes.
2.Highlight, underline and tag all key concepts. If you don't know how to do this, it is a good idea to ask a CPA candidate who obtained good marks
3.Create an index for easy reference. If you don't know how to create an index borrow or buy an index from a person who completed the module in a previous semester and learn from it.
4. Try to summaries key concepts. ( Again learn from your colleagues or candidates who did this in previous exams)
5. Find some sample questions and attempt to answer as early as possible. I have seen candidates who obtained good marks for CPA Australia exams, always attempt sample exam questions well in advance.
6. Buy a good exam stationery kit and do not forget to take it for the exam. Do not hesitate to invest on good quality stationery for exam. Running out of ink in pens and blunt pencils could fail your exam.
7. Read the exam instructions carefully before start answering. If you practice sample question you will notice it is very easy to understand exam instructions.
8. Leave the difficult questions and revisit later. (Practise this also when you attempt sample exam questions during your preparation)
9. Do not spend too much time on one question. In CPA Australia most written answer questions can be answered approximately in half page. (When you practise sample essay question do not forget to see the length of the core answer)
If you can't find previous notes from friends try various social media. For example these days anything can be found in eBay. Do not hesitate to invest on some used CPA notes and exam questions and head start, even before you get the official notes.
